With the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, families are facing both a public health and an economic crisis. The longer it goes on, the more this pandemic also becomes a housing emergency.
The passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 27, was an important step to support workers, families and nonprofits during this time of economic hardship. But even as federal agencies begin enacting the bill, Congress has recognized that more must be done and is actively discussing an additional relief bill.
We must make sure they hear from us about the importance of prioritizing housing stability for families and support for nonprofits. In particular, we call on Congress to:
- Provide no-cost capital to nonprofit entities to enable extended mortgage payment forbearance.
- Boost efforts to prevent foreclosures.
- Provide critical support to nonprofit organizations.
- Provide additional funding for housing and service programs, among others.
Act now to show your support for housing stability during this time of crisis!
